Warminster Male Tortures and Kills His Pet Dog Because His Wife Left Him

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Matthew Spanburg, of Warminster Pa. just ruined his life by making poor decisions and is about to become a convicted felon. Prior to May 16, 2025, he had a wonderful family and was living the American dream. He had a wife, child and pet dog. He was gainfully employed. Then, their dog, a black and tan Belgian Sheppard knocked over their small child.

His wife over reacted and thought the dog could hurt the child. It must be noted that this couple had arguments prior to this but this was the last straw. His wife left him and took their child. At that point, there were multiple options available to Spanburg but he took none of them.

These options could be rehoming the dog, additional training, keeping the dog and child in different rooms until the child got bigger, or he could have just let his wife take the child until things got sorted. Instead, police said that Matthew Spanburg took his pet dog into the bathroom and drowned him.

He called his mother to tell her what he did and his mother did the correct thing by informing police, who did a welfare check. Spanburg admitted to what he did and said that he did not know what else to do. In spite of the options listed above. Police saw the deceased family pet and got a warrant, charging Spanburg with felony animal cruelty as well as torture of animals.

Spanburg could not make rational decisions. Now decisions will be made for him for the foreseable future, as District Justice District Justice Christopher O’Neill slammed him with a 10% of $300,000.00 bond. He also has a charge of making terroristic threats and harassment. His bail is $30,000 for that, as he has proven he is capable of following through on his threats.
