
New Jersey Member Of Congress Indicted For Interfering With ICE Officials

New Jersey Attorney General Alina Habba said that LaMonica McIver a member of congress was part of a Congressional Delegation that was granted access to the Delaney Hall Federal Immigration Facility in Newark, New Jersey on May 9, 2025. She was inside the secure area and at the same time of her arrival, there was a protest.

Then the Mayor of Newark New Jersey showed up. Authorities said that After the Congressional Delegation entered the secured area of the facility, the Mayor of Newark arrived and was given access to the secured area. A federal officer then informed the Mayor that he was not authorized to be in the facility’s secured area, and issued the Mayor multiple warnings that he would be arrested if he did not leave.

According to a statement issued by Habba, Mayor Ras Baraka was in the process of being arrested when Congresswoman McIver is alleged to have pushed a federal officer and then prevented the arrest of the mayor. In the video released by Homeland Security, the congresswoman ( in red) is getting jostled around as the scene is hectic.
In the meantime, Baraka has sued Alina Habba over his arrest and McIver has pleaded not guilty. She represents the Newark NJ area.
