A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to state prison following a series of violent assaults against his girlfriend and efforts to prevent her from testifying against him, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Anthony Ortiz, 34, appeared in Bucks County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, and entered an open guilty plea before Judge Stephen A. Corr. Ortiz pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including strangulation, intimidation of witnesses, unlawful restraint, simple assault, harassment, and recklessly endangering another person.

In response to the severity and repeated nature of the offenses, Judge Corr sentenced Ortiz to a minimum of 4 years and 5 months to a maximum of 13 years in state prison—within the aggravated sentencing range. In addition to incarceration, Ortiz must undergo domestic violence supervision, have no contact with the victims, and complete a mental health evaluation.

The charges stem from three disturbing incidents of domestic violence that occurred in June, July, and August 2024 in Falls Township and Bensalem Township.

On June 29, 2024, Falls Township Police responded to a domestic violence call where Ortiz was caught assaulting his girlfriend and her juvenile son. The woman suffered facial injuries, including a bruised eye and a lump on her head. Her son, who intervened, sustained scratches and abrasions.

On July 21, 2024, Ortiz attacked the same woman again in Bensalem Township. Surveillance footage from a Wawa store showed Ortiz striking her twice in the face and physically preventing her from leaving both a vehicle and the store.

The third and most brutal assault occurred on August 25, 2024, when Ortiz attacked his girlfriend while driving her to work. According to police, he punched, slapped, and choked her before repeatedly stabbing her with a vape pen. She was left with extensive bruising and visible marks on her neck.

Authorities say the assaults were fueled by Ortiz’s accusations of infidelity. His actions did not stop with physical violence. In the weeks leading up to court hearings in September 2024, Ortiz persistently contacted the victim, urging and pressuring her not to testify. He sent messages telling her to claim she “didn’t want to press charges in the first place” and to inform authorities that she “wasn’t testifying.” He also made veiled threats about the consequences of her cooperation with law enforcement. As a result, the victim did not appear at a scheduled hearing.

In a statement, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office emphasized its firm stance on domestic violence: “We are committed to aggressively prosecuting these cases and ensuring that offenders are held accountable.”
