Quick Moving Storm Wreaks Havoc In the Area

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Trees were felled by high winds, throughout the area of Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County. From Rhawn Street, in Philly to Oxford Valley Road in Levittown, a quick burst of high winds resulted in massive power outages as well. On E. Lincoln Highway, all of the traffic lights were out and the travel lanes of Route 1 were flooded.

Generators were requested to power up traffic lights. To top off the mayhem, over 500 calls to911 could not be answered due to the call center being backed up. Many of those were for wires arching and minor accidents.

On I-295 near the Bristol exit a large tree came down which tied up the right lane for miles. Traffic was forced to crawl by it for hours. In an unrelated matter, the storm hindered first responders at a shooting at the Oxford Valley Mall.

Indeed, that storm was a quick moving monster!
I saw people’s yard furniture sailing down the street, including children’s trampolines and other debris.
People are so complacent about such things, not aware of how a storm could cause havoc or damage to other’s property.
