Dead, Mummified Body Found In Rising Sun Ave. House Fire

Shortly before 4:00 AM today, firefighters responded to a house fire on the 5700 block of Rising Sun Avenue.. When they arrive, medium smoke was pushing from a third floor rear window. All companies on the original fire dispatch were placed in service. The smoke permeated throughout the building.
The fire was declared under control shortly after it was dispatched. Firefighters started to overhaul the building, when they found the mummified human remains of what authorities are say could possibly be a female was discovered.
The body was taken to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy and to find how who the person is and how long they have been there, as well as the cause of death.
This building housed a closed jewelry store and sits vacant . Residents say the building is visited regularly by crackheads and others looking to get high. The cause of the fire has not been determined. City crews were on scene cleaning out the building and boarding it up.
