Armored Car Robbed On Frankford Ave.

by Alex Lloyd Gross

A few minutes past noon today a Brinks Armored Car stopped in front of the Dollar General. This was on the 8400 block of Frankford Avenue , in a shopping center. The truck was doing a standard drop off or pick up at the store, when three heavily armed black males approached the truck and within minutes, robbed the truck.

They disarmed the driver and took off in a grey Honda Civic. When police ran the tag, it came back to a vehicle involved in a previous shooting. The take the bandits got away with was about $3000.00. Not a lot of cash, police said.

That shopping center has a lot of cameras which captured the incident. The FBI was called to the scene and they are working to ID the thieves. No injuries were reported. This is the third armored car robbery in about a month.
