Police Track Vehicle Used In School Safety Officer Shooting

Philadelphia Police have used video surveillance to track the vehicle, a White 2017-2019 Kia Sportage that was used to shoot an on duty School Safety Office during the early morning hours of June 29, 2025 along the 300 block of Christopher Columbus Blvd.

Apparently, there was a road rage incident between two motorists and one of the parties saw the officer and flagged him down. The 68 year old School Safety Officer was then shot multiple times by the other driver, who sped away. The officer drove himself a short distance before crashing into a tree.

He remains in critical condition. He was a retired Philadelphia Police Officer and was returning from patrolling a school, officials said. He is remains critical condition. Police tracked the KIA and obtained some video of it that they have shared. It appears with this article.

They are also tracking the location of where the vehicle went after the shooting. They will use license plate readers and security technology to help. The vehicle as a unique sticker on the upper left of the rear window,

That sticker could be a parking sticker . The shooter is described as a Hispanic male with a bowl type haircut, police said.
