Police: Drunk Driver Plows Into Striking City Workers
City workers are on strike for DC 33. Many of the union members have taken up strike posts in different areas of the city. One such are was 3901 North Delaware Avenue. Yesterday, about 11:04 PM, city workers were walking the picket line at that location. Some were in lawn chairs.
A 2009 Chevy Tahoe came down the street, drove down the sidewalk and then plowed into two striking city workers, police were nearby and were flagged down. Officers got the vehicle stopped on the 2900 block of Castor Avenue
The driver, Damon Robinson, 41, of the 1400 block of South 2nd Street was arrested and processed for DUI., assault and other charges, police said. The passenger was questioned and released.
Police said one of the strikers remains in critical condition. The vehicle was towed by police.
