Thousands of people showed up and had a blast yesterday at Pleasant Hill Park, which is more commonly known as the Delaware Avenue Boat Launch on Linden Avenue. Every year this event get larger and larger, put on though One River Alliance and State Street Events, t a great spot where people can come, enjoy and watch fireworks on July 4th.

The event ran from 5:00 PM until the last bang from fireworks shot off on a barge in the river. Crowds gathered from about 4:00 PM as people staked out a spot on the grass. A giant 40 foot tall Ferris Wheel was the highlight this year. For those 21 and older, there were two beer gardens. For those about 12 and under, there were multiple bounce houses to play in.

A music stage was set up with Philly Heart and Soul belting out songs. Everyone knows the songs they played, such as “Play That Funky Music” to “Saturday In the Park” from Chicago. This event drew more people because of the city strike and LL Cool J canceling the show which featured him.

Yes, the city was on strike but there were no issues at this event. The park was clean and people were happy to walk back to their vehicles parked on State Road. Taxi or ride share is your best option if you want to attend this event next year.
