Male Held With No Bail For Bensalem Animal Cruelty Case
by Alex Lloyd Gross
Andrew DeShield, 62 had a pet dog named Gucci. Presumably named after the high end clothing store. Last month, DeShield took Gucci to Parx Casino, in Bensalem. The casino does not allow animals into the facility that are not service animals so DeShield decided to leave the dog in the hot car.
It was 88 degrees outside and the temperature in he car far exceeded 100 degrees. Someone noticed Gucci and called police. They took Gucci to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital for emergency procedures to stabilize the animal. Gucci’s gums were turning blue and he was showing serious signs of dehydration, police said.
While Gucci was getting treatment, DeShield, ordered the doctor to stop. He then took Gucci home to where he was staying. Police told him that they would contact him the next day.

When they did, he told officers the dog was dead, in the backseat of his car. police arrived and immediatley arrested him for Animal Cruelty and animal neglect. Judge Joseph Falcone set bail at $200,000. Over the holiday DeShield went to get it reduced and judge James McMaster ordered him held with no bond.
Bad decisions made by DeShield have lead to a public outcry that he should not be allowed to be unsupervised and he should be jailed. DeShield is now supervised 24/7 and all of his decisions are made for him by correctional officers, His next hearing is July 16, 2025.
