Large Proceeds Robbery In Somerton

About 10:30 AM, today, a black Nissan Maxima with heavy tint rolled up to a house on the 200 block of Regina Street in the far northeast. Two males got out and accosted the homeowner. They took a bag containing about $80,000 in cash, police said.

The vehicle and it’s occupants fled towards Lockart Road. This area has lots of security cameras and several of them caught all or part of the robbery.

About an hour after the robbery, an alert police officer found a black Maxima parked in the rear of the 10800 block of Gifford Street. The car had been backed in against a fence and the license plate was missing.

Police checked the VIN and it was reported stolen. Police stopped short of saying this vehicle was involved in any crime.
