Fire Police Captain Criminally Charged And Tossed Out Of Fire Company
by Alex Lloyd Gross
William McNichol used to be the Fire Police Captain of the Horsham Twp. Fire Company. The key word is used to be. He was removed from the membership rolls after he allegedly got into a road rage incident with another driver. McNichol exchanged words with the female and then things got worse.
He got behind her and his emergency lights were activated. He claims a cooler fell on the switch and he had no idea they were on. When the woman driver got out of her car, she thought she was getting pulled over, especially when McNichol exited his vehicle with a portable radio, to confront her again.
Police got a complaint from the woman and tracked down video that shows McNichol stopping a white SUV near York Road. Fire Police do not pull over and do car stops on vehicles.

According to Horham Fire Chief Lee Greenberg, McNichol is not welcome at the firehouse any more. He was relieved of his duties when police arrested him and charged him with Impersonating a public servant in the start of July. In a statement released from the fire company, they said . The incident was witnessed by an EMT.
“None of the training or instruction Mr. McNichol received during his membership with the Fire Company would have led him to believe that his actions were appropriate, acceptable, or lawful,” Greenberg said in a statement. “We just really want to instill to the public that this should not be a reflection on the rest of the department. This is one former member’s bad decision-making.”
McNichol is due in court August 21.
