Philadelphia Male Turns Simple Retail Theft Into Felony Robbery Charge In Feasterville

Gardner Davenport ,54, Of Philly came to the Feasterville section of Lower Southampton Twp, to steal. He caught a felony instead. Police said that on July 14, 2025, he went into the ACME on East Street Road, where he selected items, put them in a cart and then tried to leave the store.
Police said Gardner was confronted about the items and aggressively pushed past people, with his cart. That act made a simple retail theft get escalated to a robbery. However, police said, Gardener was not yet finished with his shenanigans.
He took the cart to a bus stop that was near him. At the same time, police were in the area, and so was a SEPTA bus, which Gardner boarded. Police saw him get on the bus and stopped the bus. At that time, Gardner got off the bus and ran.

Ater a short foot chase, Gardner was arrested near the Suburban Diner. Upon searching him, police found drug paraphernalia on him.
He is charged with Robbery, Retail Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Evading Arrest or Detention on foot, Drug Paraphernalia and Illegal use of shopping carts. His bail was set at $40,000 /10 percent. He remains in jail, unable to post bail.
