Intoxicated Ride Share Driver Smashes Car With Customer Inside

Just after 11:00 PM July 26, 2025, a customer hired a Lyft vehicle to take them to a destination. What happened next is unclear, but the driver crashed into a parked car, at Frankford and Torresdale Aves. The customer was in the rear seat and went to Frankford Hospital, Frankford Division with non life threatening injuries.
Medics and emergency personnel arrived on scene and quickly determined the driver was either high, having an overdose or drunk. That driver went to the hospital as well. It is unknown if the customer knew the driver was high when they got into the car, or if the Lyft driver got high while the customer was in the car.
A total of two medic units were called to the scene.
