Center City Doctor Running For Congress
by Alex Lloyd Gross
There is going to be a vacant seat in the US Congress, specifically the 3rd Congressional District in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Dwight Evans currently has that seat. Dr. David Oxman is going to challenge for that seat. Oxman is an intensive care doctor, a bright man who is highly educated.
“I have to get involved, I just have to, with the way our country is bieng run”, Oxman said. He put his medical pracise on hold to do this. “I want to be a public servant, I want to right the injustices done in this state,” Oxman said. He is referring to the cuts to publicly funded healthcare. Those cuts will have dire consequences to people.
Dr. Oxman considers himself a moderate. He is for carrying guns, however, “I don’t see why anyone needs an assault rifle” Dr, Oxman thinks that people who do have a license to carry should be trained in gun safety.

He knows that few people are millionaires much less billionaires. He is astounded by the wealth gap and is for raising the minimum wage. Currently it sits at $7.25/hr. “It has not kept up with inflation at all”, he said.
Dr. Oxman knows it is expensive to get into congress. Advertising is expensive and so is getting a politician’s name out there. Political Action Committees funnel money to candidates that support their agenda. Often anonymously “I’d like to take the dark money out of PAC’S.”, he said
His positions on some issues are controversial. Not everyone is going to agree with everything someone elected to or running for public office does. So far, he has raised about $300,000 according to his filings with the Federal Election Commission.
He is running as a Democrat and people will have a chance to vote for him in just a few short months.
