by Alex Lloyd Gross

It was just after 4:00 PM yesterday, when a group of people started shooting at another group of people outside of the Christy Recreation Center. One of the people shot was a 32 year old male, who was a city worker. Police said this rec center had a pool and there was about 75 people inside the pool when the shooting happened.

After the shooting, the group of people is seen on video running away, some are in the street, others are on the sidewalk. All of them had backpacks on. It is unclear if they all fire shots or if they were just with one or two people who actually fired shots. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said that there will be a dogged investigation until all involved have been arrested.

The shooting resulted in five individuals being shot—four juveniles and one adult. An 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were transported by police to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and are both listed in stable condition. A 16-year-old male arrived at HUP Cedar via private vehicle and was later transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. Another 16-year-old male was taken to Penn Presbyterian and is reported to be in stable condition. The adult victim, a 32-year-old male, sustained a graze wound to the hand and is also in stable condition.

There have been no arrests and no motive was released.
