Trump Threatens To Hold Up New Washington Stadium Over Team Name

The Washington Redskins were an iconic football team until about 2020 when America went woke and suddenly, the name Redskins was offensive. The name changed to the Washington Football Club, which is a boring name and now it’s the Commanders, although most people still call the team the Washington Redskins.
The stadium they play in isw old and in poor condition. The Commanders owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer are on the hot seat and many reports are they are considering changing the name of the team back to appease Trump.
“The Washington “Whatevers” should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamor for this. Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a storied past. Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them. Times are different now than they were three or four years ago. We are a Country of passion and common sense. OWNERS, GET IT DONE!!!” Trump wrote on social media.

At issue is if the name Redskins is offensive. Almost any name can be offensive to some, yet fine with others. Some Indian Americans were offended and pressured for the change. A lot of Indian Americans are not offended and want the name brought back
“I may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original ‘Washington Redskins,’ and get rid of the ridiculous moniker, ‘Washington Commanders,’ I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington.” Trump stated. He does how the power to do it or at least make life miserable for Harris and Blitzer.

If private money is used for the stadium, Trump has less leverage. If any federal money is used or it the stadium is on federal land or needs any kind of federal approval, That could be held up for years.
President Trump has come out against the woke culture and against any and all DEI hires. Should the new stadium have DEI employees then Trump can negotiate against the stadium especially if anything federal is involved.
To answer the questions if the Redskins name is offensive can only be answered by each person as an individual. For every person that was offended by the name,, there is going to be someone offended by the change to get away from it.
