
Arrest Made In City Rec Center Shooting

Philadelphia Police credit tips and investigative work in finding out who was behind the recreation center shooting July 30, 2025. The shooting happened at the Christy Recreation Center located at 56th and Christian Streets.
A previous altercation happened outside the center. That was the motive. That altercation had ended, but police said that 17 year old Keon Kiah returned and fired several gunshots . Police said that as a result of the gunfire, two children sustained graze wounds, and a recreation center employee was also grazed by a bullet. In addition, a 16-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the face and remains in critical condition, while another 16-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to the hip.

As a result of the investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Kiah, who surrendered late last night.He will be charged with 13 counts of Aggravated Assault, 13 counts of Simple Assault, 13 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP), and related offenses.
