
Police Involved Shooting In Bensalem, Traffic Detoured On Bristol Pike

According to Bill McVey, Director Of Public Safety For Bensalem Twp, about 5:45 PM, police got a call about a motorist dispute on Route 13 near Woodhaven Road. That call indicated that a male on a motorcycle, traveling north on Route 13 displayed a handgun.
An officer on patrol spotted that motorcycle on Route 13 near Park Ave, The officer approached the motorcycle, which slid, as it stopped.it hit the police car, McVey said. The suspect then ran and according to McVey, the suspect had a pistol in his hand, which McVey described as” being turned slightly towards the officer”. That officer fired, after chasing the suspect.

McVey said that the suspect is in guarded condition at Jefferson, Torresdale Hospital. The Bucks Conty District Attorney is now the lead agency in this investigation, as is protocol. The officer who fired his weapon is removed from street duty pending the outcome of the investigation, according to McVey.

Route 13 was closed and remains closed for several hours for the investigation, between Gibbs Lane and Park Avenue. According to McVey, no officers were hurt.
