Thousands Raised For Bensalem PAL Program At Golf Outing

A charity golf outing was held yesterday at the Bensalem County Club. The proceeds from this event, which according to organizer Ping Cao, of the The National Association of Asian American Professionals raised over $10,000. This money stays in Bensalem and it helps fund the Police Athletic League program. This program is geared towards children and older youth to keep them occupied and showing them positive role models.

The PAL program is not new. A lot of municipalities have them. Philadelphia has taken their kids to ball games and other events at the sports complex. It is expensive to run a PAL program, it relies on donations, said Bill McVey, Director Of Public Safety for Bensalem. He was quick to ad that no taxpayer money is spent on the program. The officers that are in this program are volunteers.

According to Ping, this event sold out very quickly and the NAAAP was able to secure sponsorships for different holes. Golfers were able to network with people that could potentially result in increased business. This event was a win-win for all involved.

For people that do not golf , there was an after event networking event at Maggies on North Delaware Avenue. Admission to that was $50.00. At the country club, for several hours, people played with and against some of the officers in Bensalem. The parking lot was filled with golf carts at the start of the event, with players waiting their turn.

When this event was proposed, it was put together in less than a month. As people checked in, they were given a gift bag that contained a golf shirt and other goodies. Over 1000 kids in Bensalem take advantage of the program, which is the only PAL program in Bucks County.
