Arrest Made In City Fatal Hit and Run

When Michael Harper 47, of South Philadelphia struck and killed 77 year old Dorthea Cathill On September 26 near 54th and Lancaster Avenue, he took off and did not stop to render aid. He knew he hit something because his front windshield was caved in and there was damage to the front of his car.
Instead of getting help, he stopped nearby at a pizza shop to discharge a passenger. He then drove away, at one point reversing down Lancaster Avenue. He drove a black Infinity with a paper Delaware tag. Police said that was the vehicle responsible.
Security footage showed the car and Harper behind the wheel. Police found the car on the 2700 block of Snyder Avenue. Harper turned himself in to a local police station in south Philly. He is charged with Homicide by Vehicle, Reckless driving and related offenses.
