Former Vice President Dick Cheney Died

Dick Cheney, Vice President to George Bush died due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease last night, family members said. Cheney was 84.
Dick Cheney was a polarizing figure in politics. When Bush was running for President Of the United States, Cheney was tasked with heading the search for a suitable VP. He chose himself as he thought no one else was as qualified as he was.

He started his run into federal politics by running for congress . Prior to this, in the 1970’s, the conservative was picked by Donald Rumsfeld as his deputy White House chief of staff under President Gerald Ford and then succeeded his mentor and close friend in the job in the Bush Administration. Cheney did not forget and Rumsfeld wound up as Secretary Of Defense in 2021.

In the 1990’s Cheney was Secretary Of Defense during the first was with Iraq, when that country took over Kuwait. In 1996 He joined Haliburton as it’s CEO, which later proved very controversial. As the Gulf War raged in 2003, Cheney was out as CEO but Haliburton continued to rake in billions in defense contracts.
Cheney had two drunk driving arrests in his past, which he freely disclosed. He admitted to being a poor student which lead him to be kicked out of Yale.

In 1978 he had his first of many heart attacks. and he eventually had to get a heart transplant, which he acknowledged was a new lease on life. He enjoyed a good relationship with George Bush but that started to wane in the later part of the presidency. Cheney’s Chief Of Staff, Scooter Libby was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in 2007 after a probe into who leaked the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Cheney wanted Libby pardoned but Bush refused to do that. Eventually, Donald Trump issued Libby a pardon in 2018.
Cheney disdained Donald Trump and spoke out against the January 6th insurrection.
