Homicide Arrest Made In South Philly Murder and Shooting

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 6:12 p.m., officers responded to a radio call reporting a “person with a gun” at 1300 Packer Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 23-year-old Hasson Mason suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body. Medics transported him to Jefferson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m.
A second victim, a 23-year-old male, was found at 1500 Packer Avenue, in front of Chickie’s & Pete’s Restaurant, with gunshot wounds to the torso. Police transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

On Monday, November 17, 2025, Homicide Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Abou Keita. Shortly after the warrant was issued, officers from the 12th District located Keita inside a parked vehicle on the 2200 block of South Felton Street and took him into custody without incident. He was charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Conspiracy, VUFA violations, and related offenses.
