NJ Male Arrested For Impersonating Federal Police Officer
by Alex Lloyd Gross
This story pushes the limits of stupidity. Buckle up and get ready: Nicholas M. Cabral, of Sewell, Washington Township, NJ, is married to a woman who is a Homeland Security officer. She was on an assignment that took her out of town. She is issued a patrol car to use for work purposes.
On December 10, 2025, Washington Twp. Police were called to investigate a property that was under construction on Strand Avenue. Apparently, the front door was not secured. As Twp officers arrived, they saw a Homeland Security Police Car arrive at the scene . They were not dispatched and normally would not respond to a routine call such as a property check, police said.
Cabral then identified himself as an officer and helped police clear the property while holding a handgun. When nothing was determined to be wrong, Twp. police cleared the scene. Knowing the response from federal officials was strange, police investigated Cabral.

They determined that he was never an officer but his wife was. He apparently stole the cruiser and called in the property check himself, to illicit the police response. Homeland Security responded and took possession of the vehicle. Additional ALPR data showed the police vehicle had been driven with emergency lights activated and also went to the Wendy’s Restaurant while his wife was away/deployed on assignment, police said.

Cabral turned himself in and is lodged in the Salem County Jail, charged with police impersonation
