A male who rented a U-Haul from a distribution location crashed into another driver early this morning at approximately 8:00 a.m. at Bristol Pike and Veterans Highway. Bristol Township Police began a short chase, but it was broken off when the U-Haul entered I-95, according to Sgt. Jason Mancuso of the Bristol Township Police Department. No one was injured in the initial accident.

“We knew who the driver was,” Mancuso added. State Police later spotted the truck and initiated a pursuit along I-95, but that chase was also broken off. Later in the afternoon, the vehicle was again seen leaving Hulmeville Borough, and Bristol Township Police resumed the pursuit. According to Sgt. Mancuso, when the U-Haul entered Bensalem, Bensalem Police took over the chase.

For much of the day, Bensalem, Bristol Township, and State Police attempted to stop the vehicle. During the afternoon, Bensalem Police again picked up the pursuit. The U-Haul was involved in several accidents that did not result in serious damage or injuries until it reached Bristol Road.

At that location, the driver was speeding and slammed head-on into a vehicle that was stopped at Grandview Avenue. The driver of that vehicle sustained an injury, police said. The driver of the U-Haul was arrested and will face multiple charges. Bristol Road was closed near the Neshaminy Mall for several hours while police investigated the crash.
