Two Arrested New Years Day Shootout In Northeast Philadelphia

by Alex Lloyd Gross

On New Year’s Day, around 11:00 AM, Cara Williams and Tyriq Williams went to the home of Luis Colon on the 7100 block of Oakland Street. The two went there, police said, to cause a confrontation with the stepdaughter of Luis Colon. The Williamses are family members of the stepdaughter’s ex-boyfriend, who was not present at the scene. During the incident, a 44-year-old female, identified as Cara Williams-Reeves, and an unidentified female allegedly began assaulting Colon’s stepdaughter and wife on the front lawn.

Police said that when Colon attempted to intervene, Quadir Tull and Tyriq Williams pushed him away and produced firearms. Colon then produced his own firearm, and a shootout ensued involving all three males. When it was over, police said Colon had been shot multiple times in the chest. He died at the hospital just before noon.

Police later discovered that two people involved in the incident escaped in a Chrysler 300. The car was driven to Temple University Hospital, where two additional gunshot victims were found. A 21-year-old male, who sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, was listed in stable condition. Another victim, identified as 21-year-old Quadir Tull of the 2100 block of West Jefferson Street, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 11:52 AM.

Following the investigation, police charged Cara and Tyriq Williams with murder and related offenses.

  1. And…. Happy New Year!…..
However this incident isn’t surprising, since it’s the “usual way” that these types settle their issues.
    No consideration for others,
    No self-control,
Just pull out a gun to solve the problem.
