The rhetoric has to stop. People are getting hurt and could be killed. This is in regard to elected and appointed officials weighing in on the ICE shooting of Renee Nicole Good.
She was in her vehicle as ICE agents were in the street and surrounded her car. She drove forward and was shot.
Pundits are out in force. One thing is clear: law enforcement cannot shoot someone for driving away unless that person is using their vehicle as a weapon. That is the central question. What was going through Good’s mind when an ICE agent walked up to her vehicle and ordered her out of the car? Was she scared and thinking she could simply drive away and leave the area? Or was she thinking she should hit the agent with her vehicle and then flee?
Governor Tim Walz referred to her as a victim and threatened to call out the National Guard. Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, called Good a “domestic terrorist.”

This ICE agent had previously been hit by a car and dragged. What was going through his mind? Could he have perceived the forward motion of the vehicle as a threat? There needs to be a thorough and complete independent investigation. This should be conducted by someone with expertise in law enforcement use-of-force cases and not appointed by any agency involved.
The ICE agent should be removed from duty pending the outcome of the investigation. Tim Walz has expressed pride in the Somali population in his state, while downplaying the millions of dollars in fraud uncovered through cash funneled to Somali “learning centers.”
Those schools have been fronts for funneling money back to Somalia, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is now in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump, who is calling for her removal from office. These education centers have proven to be vacant buildings with little more than a misspelled sign. The owner of one claimed to be the victim of a burglary in which only enrollment records were stolen.

ICE was reportedly in the area locating Somalis who were in the country illegally and rounding them up for deportation when the shooting occurred. Amateur cellphone video has emerged showing parts of the incident. The footage includes live commentary or is filmed from a distance and is shaky. We need to know exactly what happened before the shooting.
Tim Walz was running for vice president under Kamala Harris. On the campaign trail, he was kept away from media members who wanted to ask him questions, as was Harris. By contrast, Trump and Vance regularly engaged the media in open Q&A sessions with no topics off the table. Walz has since ended his bid for a third term as Minnesota governor.
