Queensryche Proves They Still Rock At Parx Show
by Alex Lloyd Gross
This past weekend, Queensrÿche took care of business during an almost 90-minute concert at Parx Casino in Bensalem. People who weren’t sure if the band could still deliver with only two original members left were relieved when the first few notes of “Queen of the Ryche” were played. Those who stayed home did themselves a disservice.
This is a rock band, and the crowd stood on their feet for the entire show. Vocalist Todd LaTorre was all over the stage, playing to the entire crowd—front, left, and center. Fans who wanted to hear classics like “Warning,” “Jet City Woman,” and “Empire” were not disappointed. They were all played.
Playing those songs live is important for a band like Queensrÿche. Those are the hits people know and love. They also brought out “Breaking the Silence.” Michael Wilton and Eddie Jackson have been there since the start, and they remember some of the more radical shows this band played, like in November 1984, when the barricade broke as they opened for KISS.

This was a show for fans of all eras of the band. LaTorre sounds just like the records, and that’s what matters. Of course, it’s not the same band from their heyday of Operation: Mindcrime and Empire, but it doesn’t matter.
What matters is that this band is still out on the road, playing music, and fans are having fun. Opening the show was a local Philly band called Last Wish.
