One female, is under arrest and facing robbery assault and other felony charges after she was arrested for a January 2026 robbery of a 66 year old woman who was waiting for the Route 59 bus at Castor and Benner Street.

At least two offenders exited a red Jeep SUV, and one offender, described as a masked Black female in her twenties, grabbed the victim’s book bag. A struggle ensued, during which the victim was knocked to the ground and dragged. The offender then produced a taser and used it on the victim’s arms and hands in an attempt to force her to release the bag.

One person in the SUV reversed and then finally the bag was released to the thief. Police arrested 25 year old Janesha Pickett, of the 6500 block of Large Street. More arrests are imminent as police will use cellphone technology, cameras and license plate readers to arrest the other conspirators.

Pickett fled in the SUV which police identified as a red Jeep. As the bus arrived, the driver saw the victim on the ground and helped her to her feet. Police were called later. Full restitution is most probably going to be ordered upon conviction.
