Bucks County Inmate Re Captured By US Marshals After Escape

Shawn Dempsey 57, of Waynesboro Pa, was housed in the Bucks County Prison and needed to go to University Of Pennsylvania Hospital, for a procedure on January 27,2026. He was not guarded. Instead he signed and agreement not to leave the hospital, authorities said. The exact nature of his charges is unknown .
Instead of notifying the authorities that he was ready to go back to prison, authorities said he breached the trust that was placed in hm and ran away. On January 29,2026 a felony warrant for escape was issued for his arrest.

On February 10,2026, the US Marshals were asked for assistance and within days, they found Dempsey had fled to Harrisburg immediately after his escape and then traveled to Carlisle. Upon investigating numerous leads in Carlisle, Dempsey was believed to be frequenting a cold weather shelter. Surveillance was established on the shelter and Dempsey was observed and arrested without incident at the shelter.

He was then taken to the Cumberland County Prison to await transportation to Bucks County. He will face a felony charge of Escape.
