A SEPTA driver is being credited for the quick arrest of 59 year old Jose Luna who is charged with the murder of his 48-year-old wife Alisett Schubert on Feb. 21, 2026. The shooting happened on Oxford Avenue near Filmore Street about 10:05 PM, police said.

According to a statement from District Attorney Kevin Steele, the SEPTA driver was driving southbound on Huntington Pike when he approached a vehicle that was stopped on the roadway. He reported that he heard two or three “pops” and saw a male exit the front passenger seat, then open the driver’s side door and the female fell out of the vehicle.

The driver provided a description to police and they found Luna a sh9ort distance away in Philadelphia. When approached, Luna put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.. The gun did not fire as it was out of ammunition, police said. Luna was then arrested without incident, Steele said.

Luna is charged with First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder and Possessing an Instrument of Crime. His next court appearance is March 5 2026. He is being held without bail.
