Police Catch Hit and Run Driver In Northeast Philly

Two males from Northeast Philadelphia sustained injuries after they were involved in a two vehicle crash at State Road and Linden Avenue about 12:30 PM today. The males were traveling south on State Road, when according to witnesses, another vehicle traveling towards the river collided with their car.

Immediately after impact, the male in the striking car fled from the scene on foot. He did not stop to identify himself, he just bolted down Linden Avenue. Police found him on Melrose Street, which is about a block away from the crash scene.

The male was not in a normal state of mind and was taken to Jefferson, Torresdale Hospital before he would be taken to jail. Witnesses saw the crash, stuck around and gave police the information they needed to make the arrest.

That male had a medical Marijuana card on him and there was a prescription bottle laying on the front seat of his car, which was registered in New Jersey. His name was not released pending the official charging documents .
