Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris  to be his running mate. If he wins, she is a heartbeat away from being President Of the United States.  The democratic Senator said some things about Joe Biden that were no nice, during the  primary election phase.   She has ideas that are on target for many progressives, such as raising the minimum wage and healthcare.  Progressives like that kind of thinking..  Unfortunately for Biden and Harris, the nation is not comprised of progressives.

Harris made statements about wanting to take guns away from people .”If congress can’t do it, I’ll do it by executive action,” is a  statement she made.  With gun sales going through the roof, many households own at least one gun for protection. Harris just alienated them. In Pennsylvania, people can apply to carry concealed. It is fairly easy to get a permit. In New Jersey it is more difficult.  People have a right to carry for self defense. Those people that use  that right are not going to give it up.

Outlawing guns means only outlaws will have guns. Gun buy back programs have proven to be a waste of funds.  It’s money that could be better spent on social programs, being spent mostly  on inoperable fire arms. Do you really think police have the manpower to go door to door?  Bottom line, if Harris becomes president, or talks  Biden into doing this, the American People are not going to volunteer to turn in their guns.

If Harris wants to enforce existing gun laws or tweak them  a bit,  to keep the right to bear arms, but make sure mentally ill people do not have a firearm, she will find those actions more receptive.  More Americans own guns than do not own one.  Whether it is for hunting or self protection , target practice, statistics show that to be true. Since COVID-19 and the riots,  more people have purchased firearms for the first time than ever before. Gun shops are selling out of inventory.      Harris must cater to the mainstream and not a small but vocal minority.

The majority of Americans are not in favor of abolishing the police. They hate racism and sexism and they want to see people pay for the crimes they commit.  They also value and respect the constitution.
