Philly cop shooters in custody
On Sunday April 17, 2015, at approximately 8:50PM, Police Officer James McCullough #3552, a 2-year veteran assigned to the 18th Police District and his partner were flagged down by a female who stated two armed males enter her vehicle and attempted to steal it. The officers proceed to the location an observed the males inside the vehicle, and ordered the males out. At that time Officer McCullough became engaged with Suspect #1 as he was fleeing the vehicle. Officer McCullough was on the ground fighting with Suspect #1 when the suspect discharged his firearm, striking Officer McCullough in his left leg. Officer McCullough was able to return fire at the suspect; however the male fled the location. Officer McCullough was transported by his partner to Penn- Presbyterian Hospital by his partner; however, while enroute to the hospital Officer McCullough placed his city issued tourniquet on his own leg to control the bleeding; he is currently listed in stable condition.
As a result of flash information 20-year-old (9-17-95) Samir Coyett from 73XX Brookhaven Road was apprehended and positively identified as being one of the robbers, but not the shooter. He is charged with: Criminal Conspiracy, Robbery, Attempted Murder and related offenses.
After further investigation the identity of shooter was ascertained. On Monday, April 18, 2016, at approximately 1:20pm, undercover Narcotics Officers arrested 23-year-old (1-8-93) Scott Griffin on the 1200 block of Alden Street without incident; a weapon was recovered at the time of the arrest. Scott Griffin from 2XX North Vodges Street faces charges of: Attempted Murder, Robbery, VUFA and a slew of related offenses.
