Motorists in Cherry hill NJ found themselves stuck in traffic today, May 10, 2016.  A vehicle plowed  into a utility pole just after  5;00 AM  on Rt. 70 near Grove Avenue.  The pole snapped in half and live wires came down onto the roadway.  To add insult to injury, police said the driver ran from the scene and has not been caught.  After the road could be closed and traffic diverted,  the  power company had to deenergize the line to make it safe to remove the car and the wires.

Police from Cherry Hill and Haddon Township set up traffic control which includes closing off a left turn lane from Haddonfield Road  as well as  Rt. 70  Eastbound.  The traffic control was in place until 2:00 PM,when a new pole could be installed.  There was no word on if the vehicle was stolen or why the driver left. At times, motorists  were sitting in traffic for 15 minutes to travel the distance of a single block.
