City to host Villanova Wildcats Parade..Again
By Alex Lloyd Gross
The Villanova Wildcats won the NCAA championship. It’s a big deal for sports fans and especially for those that follow college basketball. The city is going to throw a parade and it’s going to happen at 11:00 AM April 5, 2018. It will be much smaller than the Eagles Parade but the attendance and route is perfect for people that work in center city.
It will kick off from 20th and Market Streets and head towards city hall. Once it arrives there, a small stage will be set up where remarks will be made and people will be able to catch a glimpse of the team. The festivities are scheduled to conclude at 12:30 PM, which means by 1:00 PM, people can be back to work or headed home.
Last time , in 2016, there was an estimated attendance of 75,000 people. The plan was for the players to get off their bus at some point and meet the crowd. That did not happen, due to the size of the crowd. There will be parking restrictions along Market Street and road closures from 20th Street through 15th.
If you are traveling to the area this Thursday and do not wish to see the parade. , give yourself more time.
