One killed and four hurt in Roosevelt Blvd. crash

Philadelphia Police are investigating a serious accident at Tyson Ave. and Roosevelt Blvd, today April 8, 2018. It happened at 6:45 AM.  One person was killed when a passenger car rear ended another car at high speed. One person in the car that was rear ended was killed in the crash. The other person in the car sustained critical injuries.

The striking car then careened into a fence that surrounds a WAWA.  Police at the scene said two people were in that car.  There was another vehicle that sustained minor damage . Police did not say if that driver sustained any injury.  The traffic lights were out at the crash scene. It is unknown if the lights being out was a result of the crash or if they were out before the accident happened.

The crash took place in the northbound , outer lanes of the Roosevelt Blvd.  It is unknown if the driver of the striking vehicle will face any charges. The investigation is in it’s early stages.  A test for alcohol and drug use will be given, as is standard procedure.  Police tow trucks impounded the vehicle to inspect it for any defects. The scene was cleared by about noon,
