Firefighters Battle Two Alarm Building Fire In Tioga-VIDEO

by Alex Lloyd Gross

Firefighters in Philadelphia were kept busy today, March 11 2019 when a block long building caught fire.  Companies got to the scene at 10th and Westmoreland Streets and were greeted with heavy smoke  coming from the building at 12:35 PM.  All  fire crews on scene were put into service and a second alarm was struck.

To compound problems, a gas line was leaking  at the site, which posed problems for firefighters.  The building was a three story block long structure.  Crews thought it might have been vacant at the time which presents a special set of problems, such as unstable flooring and roof. Part of the building was under construction at the time.  Additional ladders were brought to the scene as well as a company to stand by in case the job went south.

The fire was declared under control  by 1:45 PM. A cause has not yet been determined. Watch the below ON SCENE video courtesy of TVJIM.US
