Philly Detective Arrested For Assault

Detective Robert Redanauer was arrested by Philadelphia Internal Affairs on April 20, 2021. He is charged with Simple Assault (M2), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2), Possessing Instruments of Crime (M1), and Terroristic Threats (M1) stemming from an incident that happened inside a house on December 27 2020. Redanuer was in an argument with two people inside a home.Police said his happened inside a residence in the Northeast.
The argument got heated and he is accused of pulling a handgun from a dresser and threatening too shoot someone while pointing a gun at them. He is accused of pointing the gun at two people. Both retreated and Redanauer drove away from the residence, as both people hid from him. Police were notified and an Internal Affairs Investigation was launched on January 5 2021.
Redanauer has been suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss. Commissioner Danielle Outlaw issued a statement that reads “In order for police officers to effectively do their jobs, it is imperative that they are held to a higher standard – both on and off-duty” said Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. “The charges filed against Detective Redanauer are serious in nature, and represent intolerable behavior. When officers behave in a way that does not honor their oath to protect others from harm, and in fact, create harm, it is made clear that the individual has no place within our ranks and must be removed.”
Police said he was stationed at Northwest Detectives where he was o9n restricted duty. They did not confirm this was a domestic incident.
