Teenager Catches Felony Doing Tik-Tok Trend In Bucks County

Most trends on social media are innocent. They involve cats or trending dances. Everyone so often, a trend will start that involves a felony. Adam Soumahoro of Jenkintown Pa. involved himself in a stolen car trend, police said. He probably thought he got away with it because it happened back in September 2022. He was just arrested this week by police in Plumstead Twp, Bucks County. The investigation took a few months but Soumahoro was ultimately charged. The trend on TikTok got got him arrested? Stealing cars.
It was back in September 2022, that he allegedly was at the Fred Beans dealership- This trend involved tampering with the ignition and using a USB to start the car and drive away. Two cars that could not be started were damaged substantially and it will cost over $2000 to fix them, according to charging documents.
When police got the report of the stolen cars, they called in detectives who were able to get DNA samples from inside the damaged cars. Soumahoro was caught on video being on the car dealership lot with two other males. They dressed all in black. They were caught on video starting a now stolen 2015 Hyndai and driving away, police said.
The vehicle then drives into another car dealership and occupants try the door handles of parked vehicles in the lot. They drive away in the stolen car, police said. On September 23, 2022 Soumahoro was stopped for driving the stolen car in Philadelphia. The car was recovered and Soumahoro was let out of jail under $5000.00 unsecured bail. A passenger who was with him bailed.
Police agencies talk with each other. They work together and multiple agencies worked this case and determined that Soumahoro would hand with two other juveniles, one of who was responsible for several stolen cars in Montgomery County. It was not just cars, but they would also allegedly commit retail thefts. In fact, the males used the car stolen at Fred Beans as transportation to a WAWA where they are accused of stealing items, court documents said.
Police also tracked Soumahoro using his cell phone. While he was being questioned by police about the theft, he provided police a written statement about how he completed the Tik-Tok trend and admitted to the car theft.
He has been charged in Bucks County with two felonies, Theft by unlawful taking and Receiving stolen property , Criminal mischief and related offenses.
