If you have intimate photos of your partner, keep them to yourself. That bit of common sense was lost on Damon McKie of Philadelphia. He developed an unhealthy obsession for his girlfriend and when she broke off the relationship. He sent photos of her naked to her family and friends. He also repeatedly called her and tried to contact her even when being told to stop.
He was plead guilty in Bucks County Common Pleas Court and sent to four to nine years in prison. He must not contact her or her family upon release and he must stay off of social media.
He entered a guilty plea in January to two felony counts of stalking and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, unlawful dissemination of intimate images, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and harassment. When he asked for leniency, the judge said “Why should I believe you’ll follow any conditions of sentence based on your pattern and behavior,”
This investigation by the Warrington Township Police Department found that McKie had been stalking the victim since late 2019. In November of that year, he pleaded guilty in Philadelphia on charges of burglary and strangulation against the victim and was sentenced to almost a year in county jail, eight years of probation and was ordered not to have any contact with her. In March 2022, prior to McKie being released from incarceration, the victim obtained her third Protection from Abuse (PFA) order against him and listed other members of her family to be protected in the order, including her mother. The next month, the victim met with Warrington Township Police and reported that McKie is continuing to stalk her. She showed police several text messages and social media messages from 2019 to April 2022 that caused her to be afraid for both her own safety and the safety of her family.
Calling his actions “despicable,”Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley said he was particularly concerned that even after McKie received a county sentence and was ordered to have no contact with the victim, he continued to terrorize her, using his time incarcerated “stewing and plotting what you were going to do.”
