Everyone Is Entitled To My Opinion- On Birthdays
Dear Friends,
My Grandmother often told me “No one is ever poor when they have friends.” I have found this to be so true, friends; I am truly blessed to have so many, I talk with friends, we meet for meals, to chat, to share the events of the day and upcoming gatherings, holidays, picnics, bar b q’s, music, movies, good books, and laughter.
You do not pay for friendship, you share it give and take there is no who did what or when for who, friendship just is. A phone call from a friend, a note, a letter, text, E-mail, a casual meeting, these things are never an intrusion nor a bother, rather they are bright spots in my days.
“A friend in need is a friend in deed” A flat tire at three in the morning, a burst pipe at dinner time, a need for a prescription, milk when you are sick in bed. How about the friend that cuts your lawn or shovels your snow while you are mending from a broken leg? Friendship is not a book on a shelf to be pulled down when the mood warrants, it is a bond that responds without question.
I don’t make a big deal out of my birthday or my age, I “Don’t let the old man in” I read daily, I sing, every day, I write, I try to accomplish something every day. I smile and say hello to people I see as I go through my day. I feel my day is complete if I learn something new, do something good, help someone, make someone laugh, spread happiness. How blessed am I that so many friends have taken time from their busy day to wish me a happy birthday, without them and their well wishes today would be just another day, well there is the cake and ice cream, but just another day. Thank you all and God
