Illegal Dirt Bike Rider Critical After Northeast Crash
Dirt bikes are illegal to be driven on city streets for a reason. They lack headlights, taillights and are unregistered and uninsured. One such rider found out the hard way why you should not take them on the street.
It was about 9:00 PM last night when a black Chevy Suburban was west on Cottman and executing a proper left turn on a green arrow, to go north on Bustleton Ave, police said. At that time, the dirt bike rider was east on Cottman when police said the driver ran a red light and slammed into the passenger side of the suburban.
The unidentified dirt bike rider sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Jefferson, Torresdale Hospital and admitted in extremely critical condition. The driver of the suburban stayed on scene and cooperated with police. Should the dirt bike rider survive the crash, charges will be forthcoming.
