Car Hits Pole, Driver Arrested For DUI In Bensalem

A male was placed in handcuffs and transported to Bensalem Police headquarters for investigation of DUI, after the car he was driving hit a utility pole on Byberry Road. The accident happened about 100 feet from Bridgewater Road, on a curve . It was just after 10:00 AM when the accident happened.

Police said the male was driving from Hulmeville Road , going towards the high school, when he drove onto the grass and his can made contact with a pole. The pole suffered no structural damage and remained standing. Utility companies will respond to check the integrity of the pole, as is standard practice.

Police said the driver had no passengers in his vehicle, which was towed from the scene. Byberry Road was closed briefly to accommodate emergency vehicles.
