Northampton Twp. Cop Shoots and Kills Suicidal Male With A Knife

It was about 7:30PM last night when 40 year old Mark Chambers got possession of a large knife and threatened to kill himself. Family called police to intervene and Chambers refused to put the knife down when instructed to by police. . In fact, reports are that he advanced towards a Northampton Twp. Officer, who fired several gunshots at Chambers.
This happened on Elm Street in the Churchville section of town. Police closed off the area for an investigation and medics rushed Chambers to St. Mary’s Hospital,where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 PM.
Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck did the autopsy and said that he died from Multiple Gunshot Wounds. The term Homicide means death at the hands of another. It is not to determine any criminal charges against the officer. Buck listed the cause of death as Homicide.
This matter is under investigation by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. They and they alone will determine if the officer acted in a criminal manner or in good faith during the shooting.
