Foghat Will Come To Area To Support New Record With Grand Funk
by Alex Lloyd Gross
If you like classic rock you are going to love the Hard Rock In Atlantic City on December 9, 2023. Foghat will play a show with Grand Funk. It’s not just a collection of greatest hit from Foghat, it’s a new record and it smokes. It’s called Sonic Mojo, the bands 17th studio album.
According to Bryan Bassett, lead guitarist for Foghat, “We are playing a lot of this live, we have six originals on there and six covers. We actually have some things recorded with Kim Simmonds, just before he passed away”, Bassett said. “We asked him if he had anything that he wanted included on the album and he sent us over some songs. They were really good and we recorded them and put them on the record. Of course, Kim could not play on it due to his declining health, but it was nice to have his work represented on the record,” Bassett said.

“We already have three or four new songs in our set right now, we did not over produce it, so we can take these songs to the stage,” Bassett said. He has played with Foghat before and his resume even includes a seven year stint with Molly Hatchet. He has been with Foghat for about 18 years.
When Foghat plays live, most fans want to hear the material they know. “Slow Ride”,”Fool For the City,” for example. However according to Barrett, the new stuff goes over well. “We are doing “She’s A Little Bit Of Everything, we are also doing a song called “Driving On”.
For the December 9 show, look for them to go on first. They are no stranger to Atlantic City shows. At this one, according to Bassett, they will do a free meet and greet after the show. That show will be at the Sound Waves inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino..
