Phila. Police ID and Charge Male In Holmesburg Police Shooting

Dioul Devaughn, 40, of Philadelphia is still in Jefferson, Torresdale Hospital. He has not been fingerprinted or photographed yet. That will happen soon. But for now, Devaughn is facing a slew of charges in the police shooting that wounded two Highway Patrol Officers.

According to police, Devaughn is charged with multiple charges. There were four officers involved in the shooting. For the two that were shot, he is charged with Attempted Murder, Assault of A Law Enforcement Officer and related offenses.
The two responding officers that were not struck by gunfire,resulted in Devaughn being charged with Assault On a Law Enforcement Officer, and related offenses.

This started when he fled from a car stop on the Roosevelt Boulevard early Sunday morning. He was originally stopped because officers wanted to investigate a gun shots on the highway call. His truck fit the description. He fled and two Highway Patrol Officers found his truck on the 8100 block of Frankford Ave. Devaughn is accused of ramming one of the patrol cars and then firing wildly at police, striking two officers. Both have been released from the hospital. A gun was recovered from his bullet riddled truck.
The names of the officers are expected to be released shortly. Upon a successful recovery, Devaugn will be brought to police headquarters where he will be finger printed and photographed.
