Police Investigate Fatal Gunfight In West Philadelphia

On December 16,2023, at 11:30PM police were called for a person shot on the highway, on the unit block of South 62nd Street. When police arrived at the scene, they found a woman, shot at least twice in her chest and back. Other officers were approached by a female at 62nd and Chestnut Street, a block away.
That woman told officers that the other woman and herself were engaged in a gunfight at 62nd and Market Streets. That woman immediately gave officers her gun. After checking the area where police found the other woman shot, police did recover a gun. That female was pronounced dead at 11:43 PM.
The woman found shot was taken by officers to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center. The other woman was taken into Homicide division to be questioned. She has not been arrested or charged yet, police said.
