Adam Thiel Gets Promoted To Managing Director

Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel just got great news. He is out of a job. Normally when someone is put out of a job, it’s not good. In Thiel’s case it is because he got a cabinet level position in the Parker Administration. Thiel, the former Fire Chief from Virginia came to Philadelphia to serve as commissioner under the Kenney Administration. He will now serve as managi8ng director.
During that time, he also was tapped to head up the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management. It was his leadership got got Philadelphia through the pandemic of 2020. He was front and center, giving press conferences, telling citizens what is going to happen and when, with regards to vaccinations and testing.
He will now oversee the all emergency activity in the city. He will take over on the day of the Parker inaugural. A firefighter in the city can rise up through the ranks. However the job of commissioner is appointed. A fire or police commissioner serves at the will of the mayor.
