Quick Arrest Made In Port Richmond Hit and Run

On January 12, 2024 a man pumping his gas was struck by a car at the Sunoco and Richmond Street and Allegheny Avenue. The striking vehicle took off, but not before the driver, a black woman got out and bent het license plate, That vehicle was found unattended on the 3100 block of Tulip Street.

Police connected 52 year old Bertha Johnson to the car and allege she was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Police have the car impounded and will use fingerprints and DNA evidence to link her as the driver. She lived near the scene and police think she used the filling station as a cut through to avoid waiting at a traffic light.

Police have charged Johnson with multiple offenses including Leaving the Scene of an accident, Aggravated Assault with a vehicle and related offenses.
